Sorry, this product is no longer available for purchase.

I recently purchased the Big Red Dome Push Button and love it, what a great button. However, there are some problems, not with the button, but with using it.

Big Dome Push Button Needs a Case

The first problem with the big dome push button is figuring out how to mount it to anything. The button really needs to be enclosed in some type of case with quick disconnects to make it easy to mount and use. You can spend hours trying to figure out a container to showcase the button and make it easy to hook up and utilize.

Big Dome Push Button Voltage Hard to Use with Raspberry Pi or Arduino

The second problem with the big dome push button is getting it integrated with your Raspberry Pi or Arduino. The LED bulb is set up for 12 volts, which doesn't work out to well when working with the Raspberry Pi or an Arduino. There are a couple of options to resolve this. You can either provide a secondary power source of 12 volts (12V) to utilize the button as it is (and go through all the hoops of controlling this higher voltage source with your Raspberry Pi or Arduino) or you can modify the big dome push button to have it accept either the 3.3 volts (3.3V) or 5 volts (5V) provided by the Raspberry Pi or Arduino. For simplicity, modifying the big dome push button provides the easiest method so you can keep your project simple.

Solution: A Big Dome Push Button Assembly

As a handy person, you might take the time to get all the components yourself and put together your own big dome push button assembly. You might also modify the button to handle the voltage you want for the project you are working on. But why would you waste your time when we can build it for you! You have more important projects to build than trying to figure out this button so we are providing our solution to you.

What Clients are Saying

  • I’ve been impressed with how you balance what’s available with what’s appropriate for our business situation.  We’ve had experience with people before who just want to install stuff for the sake of installing it, not realizing that it really didn’t have applicability to our situation and, us not being tech savvy enough to know the difference, we ended up with stuff we didn’t need.  I feel comfortable that you understand our business well enough to make good tech decisions on our behalf.
